When life presents the opportunity to chill with some alpacas, you chill with some alpacas. Seriously though, the hosts of this farm, Rosemary & Rick, are so kind, so welcoming and so generous. They greeted the us with a bag of alpaca treats (to feed the animals) and a bag with two huge raisin cookies (to feed the kids).  Rosemary guided us to an open area adjacent to the horse and cow pens where we set up camp for the night. A couple of other campers join us, one in sprinter van, the other in a Class A with a toad. There was plenty of room for all of us. Rick invited us to join him for the evening chores. Lucio & Peach fed the horse, cow, and special needs alpacas, measured out the feed for the next morning’s chores, watered the troughs for the animals, and enjoyed an early easter hunt for farm fresh eggs. Ric’s informative tour was the highlight for the kids who listened attentively and really enjoyed getting up close and personal with these gentle, curious creatures. If you are interested in learning more about alpacas you can visit their website. They have special events periodically like Alpaca Yoga (which we missed by one day, Ray was crushed.) You can also visit the small store they have and purchase a variety of alpaca products; the kids chose alpaca finger puppets and an alpaca art set. Rosemary & Ric have set a high bar for Harvest Hosts expectations! We hope to visit them again in the future and hope you make your way to Windrush Alpacas for an unforgettable experience.
