Preserving the American Family Farm
A big part of our travel plans includes giving the kids immersive experiences they can learn from in unfamiliar settings. We settled on Patch of Heaven Farm after the host, Farmer Mark, shared his menu of activities offered on the farm. Aside from being a convenient stop for the night on our route to Arkansas, a farm tour seemed like a great experience for all of us.
We arrived in the afternoon and within twenty minutes had our rig setup. Another couple in their camper welcomed us. Mark offers water to fill up too which is incredibly convenient for dry campers like us. Within an hour, Mark and his boys showed up to welcome us and a third camper who had arrived. They had cartons of eggs and craft bars of soap for those who had requested them. It truly was a southern charm welcoming. We instantly liked Mark and his boys. Mark offered a farm tour at 8 am the following day which we jumped on. After bidding everyone a good evening we, a group of four Harvest Host strangers, settled in for the evening.

Sunday morning came quickly and we were up and ready for Mark who showed up, in his buggy at 7:50 am to give us the tour of the farm. The kids were introduced to the chickens, horses, pigs and piglets, cows, baby chicks, and Golden Retrievers (bred from AKC championship bloodlines). The tour lasted almost an hour and was a wonderful experience.
Patch of Heaven Farm makes for an excellent stopover on your travels. We highly recommend this Harvest Host and encourage everyone to support America’s small farms.
