GREAT LOCATION & HIKES RIGHT OUTSIDE YOUR DOOR

The Capitol Reef area is pretty limited in boondocking locations and RV locations unless you’re staying inside the park boundary. Staying inside the park also means zero cell coverage and no ability to remote work. So once again, we relied on our trust app, Campendium, to help us locate a suitable place to camp out for a week and visit this beautiful national park.

The road in was rutted and bumpy but we managed to find a perfect spot for us. There were at least three dozen rigs camping in various parts of the overflow. Hiking trails were only steps away. Just a ten-minute drive away, Capitol Reef surprised us with an incredibly scenic drive that included navigating down some dry washes with canyon walls towering hundreds of feet above. The kids spent most of the week traveling into the park with Ray to earn their Junior Ranger badges.

The best thing to come out of staying here was not the sights, or the park itself, but our Class A neighbors, Scott & Candice. We became fast friends and they joined us most nights for beverages around the fire. We shared stories of our travels, how we each ended up traveling full-time, and our plans for the future. Traveling full-time in our RV earns us some epic views and experiences, but also the fortune of meeting truly wonderful people.
